I love Utah like my home and it is such a beautiful place till you look down (Salt Lake City) and see human lives sweating, dehydrated, lost, sad, hungry, and homeless. Then when you look up you see all these beautiful expensive vehicle driving on, it becomes confusing about what is important in life.
My experience was that I immediately tensed up and I think about how it must feel to be forgotten about to the fact that Human lives don't seem important to anyone. It reminds me of a time as a juvenile in a Group Home when I was intrigued about an Ant Farm in School. It was amazing what those Ants accomplish together and I was amazed how life works from that point on. Sadly and to this day, I am affected by someone turning that Ant Farm upside down and telling the teacher that I did that. What I realize is that someone didn't take the time to teach that Child to appreciate life in any form and I hope those Ants didn't kill each other. What would of made another Child hate seeing another happy or intrigued about an Ant Farm or maybe he just hated Ants. Hate was felt way too early for that Child and I hope that as an Adult he or she is okay today. Either way, Teaching children how important lives are must be taught at a very early age. What do you believe a child is going to feel seeing their parents driving by other human beings suffering. Ask your child how it feels when they see a homeless person and explain the situation is detail. Would you believe that teaching children to ignore normal feelings as a child would affect them as an adult? Maybe Narcissism is actually taught by allowing children to become num to real life problems by seeing their parents do it.
In a way Social Stratification has allowed some of us to believe that we are above human lives when in reality we are all the same, just going in different directions with different things. That social stratification is in a way like turning that Ant Farm upside down to separate us so we will feel above human lives and fight each other. So be very careful that we don't use Social Stratification to allow us to feel above each other as humans. You have that power and must understand that Social Stratification is dangerous if not appropriately taught how to understand it.
With that said, Salt Lake City has many homeless shelters and a beautiful brand new 200 bed shelter at max capacity and many still on the streets. Shelter's are obviously not the problem. We have a human problem that must be acknowledged and Utah's Government knows that we will need a new Shelter next year at the expense of Taxpayers. Yeah, it looks great for band-aid solutions and to get additional votes to stay in Office but you intentionally ignore human lives and I can see it.
At this time Utah, I suggest that you don't fix the homeless problem and we will find a State that can lead in fixing the homeless problem (like California with 151,000 homeless pop) and give Utah and other States instructions. What I would like Utah to focus on is helping the "United" States on "Not wasting taxpayer's money," after all Utah you are good at it. So Utah, Help us in ways to save taxpayer's money as Mississippi is working on Teacher's and Police's salaries. We have many States that can help in making America a better place to live. A good start is now.
